Our Approach

A clear, structured approach to technically demanding instructions.

Building Surveying Fire Safety & Facade Project Advisory
How We Work

Each instruction starts with scope, risk and the decision the client needs to make

Our approach is designed for instructions where the brief needs to be defined carefully, the reporting needs to be technically sound, and the next steps need to be practical.

We do not start with generic outputs. We start by understanding the building, the client's objective, the available information and the commercial or regulatory context around the instruction.

From there, we set a clear scope, identify the right level of inspection or review, and report in a way that supports action rather than simply describing a problem.

Process

A practical step-by-step process

The exact route depends on the instruction, but most appointments follow a disciplined sequence from review and scoping through to reporting and next-step support.

01

Initial Review

We review the enquiry, the building context and the decision the client needs to make before agreeing the right scope.

02

Scope & Fee Proposal

We define the deliverables, assumptions, limitations and fee basis so the instruction is properly framed from the outset.

03

Inspection & Information Review

We inspect the property and review relevant documents, drawings, records or compliance information as required by the brief.

04

Analysis & Reporting

We assess the findings, identify implications and issue reporting that sets out practical next steps and decision points.

05

Delivery Support

Where needed, we stay involved to support procurement, remedial works, further investigations or project delivery.

Scoping

How instructions are defined

  • We agree the purpose of the instruction before recommending the scope.
  • We identify what information is available and what gaps may remain.
  • We set out assumptions, limitations and whether further intrusive or specialist input may be needed.
  • We align the reporting format to the client's actual decision-making requirements.
Coordination

Who we coordinate with

Some instructions require coordination with architects, fire engineers, structural engineers, contractors, managing agents, legal advisers or funding stakeholders. Where that is necessary, we work within a clearly defined role and coordinate technical inputs around the needs of the instruction.

That does not mean adding complexity for its own sake. It means bringing the right information together so the client can move forward with clarity.

Expectations

What matters to us on every instruction

Clarity

The client should understand the issue, the implication and the next step without unnecessary jargon.

Proportion

The scope and recommendation should fit the instruction rather than defaulting to a more elaborate process than is needed.

Accountability

Where we are appointed to stay involved, we support delivery through clear communication, documented advice and defined responsibilities.
