Which JCT form should I discuss?

Compare the contract families through design responsibility and the detail your project needs.

Prepare your contract discussion

Describe the arrangement you are considering. The result suggests a family or an unresolved question to discuss, rather than confirming a contract is suitable.

Your works budget, occupation, leasehold position and lender involvement add briefing points. They do not automatically choose a form. Your answers are not saved or sent to HCS by this tool.

Before choosing the documents

Have an adviser compare the project information with the publisher’s guidance and the actual contract terms. Check the edition and any amendments; not every JCT product carries the same edition date.

Agree design responsibility, insurance arrangements, payment procedures and the people who will administer the contract. A form name does not confirm that these decisions are complete.

HCS cannot act as independent contract administrator where HCS is the contractor. Professional advice and contractor work require clearly separated appointments.

Use the CA appointment checker to explore the administration role, or read the JCT form-choice guide for more context.
