Our People

Hampstead Chartered Surveyors & Building Consultancy is led by its directors — chartered surveying and construction professionals — working alongside a wider team of specialist consultants and technical sub-consultants engaged for each instruction. Together they cover building surveying, fire safety and facade, remedial works, party wall, dilapidations and project delivery across residential, commercial and mixed-use property throughout London and Greater Manchester.

The Wider Team

A wider team of specialists behind every instruction

The practice has offices in London and Manchester. Every instruction is led by one of the directors, who stays your point of accountability from first advice through to the final report. Behind that lead sits a wider team of chartered specialists, associate consultants and technical sub-consultants that the practice engages according to what each building, and each decision, actually requires.

That structure keeps senior, RICS-regulated judgement on every file while giving clients ready access to deeper specialist input — fire engineering, structural engineering, building services, cost and quantity surveying, and legal or party wall support — drawn in openly and only where the evidence calls for it, never implied. For residential design, planning and technical drawings, we also work alongside our related architectural practice under a separate appointment.

Building Surveying

The building surveyors on your instruction

Clients sometimes ask who actually inspects, drafts and signs their report. The answer is a bench of disciplines, not a single generalist: chartered building surveyors, party wall surveyors, fire safety and facade specialists, fire risk assessors, project and contract professionals, principal designers, statutory compliance consultants and engaged engineering specialists. Some of these disciplines sit within the practice; others are engaged as named specialist consultants for the instruction that needs them — always under a director’s lead, with their role identified openly in the report. Here is how those disciplines, and the qualifications behind them, line up against the services we deliver.

Qualifications matched to the work, on every file

Professional Standards

The credentials behind the advice

Chartered status earned through the RICS Assessment of Professional Competence, recognised fire risk assessment qualifications, PAS 9980 competence for external wall appraisal, JCT and NEC contract experience, demonstrable CDM competence — each instruction is matched to the discipline, and the qualification, it actually needs.

Where a matter calls for judgement outside surveying — fire engineering, structural engineering, legal input — that expertise is engaged and identified openly, never implied.

Accountability

Regulated, insured, director-led

Hampstead Building Consultancy Limited is an RICS regulated firm (No. 923064). Professional indemnity insurance and a published complaints procedure sit behind every appointment — read our RICS regulation statement or verify the firm on the RICS register.

However many specialists an instruction draws in, accountability never diffuses: one named director leads the file from first advice to final report. The practice recruits across these disciplines as it grows — see the roles we recruit for.

How We Work

Chartered surveying expertise, applied to real property decisions

The practice combines RICS-regulated chartered building surveying with practical construction and project-delivery experience. That pairing matters: technical assessment is only useful to a client if it translates into a decision they can act on - a specification a contractor can price, a report a lender or leaseholder can rely on, a remediation route an accountable person can actually fund and deliver.

Across building surveying, fire safety and facade work, party wall matters, dilapidations, technical due diligence, Building Safety Act support and project advisory, the approach is consistent: cautious, evidence-led reporting; clear scope; plain-English advice written for the decision at hand; and explicit identification of where specialist fire-engineering, structural or legal input is required rather than implied. Advice is framed around appointment scope and the available evidence.

Instructions are taken across residential, commercial, mixed-use, institutional and public-sector property throughout North, North West, Central, West, South West, South East and East London - from a single period house through to multi-block residential estates and complex commercial assets. The firm is RICS regulated and works to the RICS Rules of Conduct.
